May 3, 2011 - South Bend Man Cup Report
After my first WKA Man Cup win last month in Kershaw, S.C., I was hopeful of another win heading to South Bend, Indiana for the 3rd round of the
series.
Practice went well on Friday with my mechanics Tiffin Willareth and Victor Matuszewski. A special thanks to my previous karting tuner
Jason Matuszewski for answering the calls made back to him in W.I. when he was at his new job and helping us via the phone.
On Saturday we went
into qualifying not overly concerned about qualifying in the very front, knowing we had the right set up for the race. During the prefinals I moved up
and had strong runs for good positions for the final starts. Finals in KPP started out good and progressed to an early lead. Half way through the
race I was passed and stayed close behind finishing 2nd. Going into the Yamaha race I had wanted to win for the chance to donate to the Takuma
Sato’s “With You Japan” Campaign for the relief to children of the Japanese disaster. For the final I came out to an early lead and
constantly pulled away to give me my second win of the year and my first of the weekend.
On Sunday we qualified well again. Prefinals brought
home two 1st. place finishes, which set me up for a good start. Leading every lap in the final races, I came to finish on with a clean sweep on top
in both the KPP Lite and Yamaha Heavy Classes.
My first hat trick weekend!
My thanks goes out to Tiffin Willareth, Vic Matuszewski,
Kevin Nelson, Verde Speed Recources, Switch Engines, L&T Clutches, GO Designs, my mom and dad and my list of sponsors.
